DENTAL CARE
At Southern Dental Care in Mandurah WA, our philosophy of “Preventive dental care, together
with rehabilitation, is not a cost but an investment”,
reflects our active promotion of continuing care for
all patients. Our continuing care program aims to:
- Educate patients on the importance
of regular dental visits, in ensuring long-term good
oral health and general well being.
The Continuing Care System is a practical means of
providing this care to patients. It is a policy of Southern
Dental Care that we adopt a proactive approach to the
maintenance of every patient’s dental health.
With the consent of patients, telephone calls are made,
and letters sent to the patient as a reminder that a
preventive treatment is due.
The preventive programs may include periodic examination,
cleaning, radiography, relining of immediate dentures
and follow up of treatment from a specialist.
COSMETIC
DENTISTRY SERVICES
This encompasses veneers, crowns and bridges,
dental implants, tooth whitening and ceramic construction.
Porcelain Veneers
These are thin, tooth coloured porcelain shells
carefully crafted to bond to and cover the front
of unsightly teeth. They are a more conservative
treatment than a crown and can often be used as
an alternative if the underlying tooth is strong
and healthy. Veneers are excellent for treating
chipped, discoloured, slightly misaligned or misshapen
teeth or gaps between the teeth, especially if
these defects affect the front teeth.
Crowns and Bridges
A crown is often the best choice to save
a tooth and strengthen it. A crown fits over the
existing natural tooth and replaces the natural
crown, the part of the tooth, seen above the gums.
Bridges replace one or more missing teeth. They
consist of an artificial tooth anchored to the
natural teeth on each side of the gap. If a tooth
is lost through an accident or is too badly decayed
to save with a crown, a bridge may be the treatment
of choice.
Dental Implants
The newest replacement for a missing tooth is
a screw in titanium implant. This goes directly
into the bone and is thus not removable. A porcelain
tooth finishes the procedure after the implant
has healed in place. Dental implants do not require
any preparation to be done on the teeth on either
side.
Tooth Whitening
For stained or discoloured teeth, bleaching can
lighten teeth that have not responded sufficiently
to professional cleaning. It is a safe procedure
when done by a dentist. A thin bleaching tray
is prepared which is worn with a small amount
of tooth whitening gel for 10-14 nights. |
FEES
The fees at our practice are a reflection of the costs
of maintaining the practice and also the complexity
and time taken for your particular treatment. Each dental
practice must set its own fees and as a consequence
there is not a ‘Standard Scale of Fees’
despite what some health insurance funds may suggest.
Under National Competition Policy it is illegal for
any organisation to arrange such a schedule of fees
as this is deemed to be ‘price fixing’ and
a serious offence.
As a guide the fees for a range of treatments are listed
below:
- Examinations and Consultations -
$45.00 - $80.00 (this is inclusive
of all diagnostic tests and laser scans)
- Preventive Care (examination and cleaning)
- $120.00 - $140.00
- Radiographs (x-rays) - $38.00
- Routine Restorations - $100.00
– $300.00
A full treatment quote will be provided upon the completion
of the first appointment and is an excellent guide to
the subsequent costs and how you can then budget accordingly.
